Experience the choral soul of Ukraine evoked on-stage by KASHTAN Ukrainian Folk Choir.

Founded in 1989 by artistic director, Stephen Misiajlo, this Adelaide-based ensemble exudes character and charm when it comes to the iconic beauty of Ukrainian folk music.

Centuries of life in Ukraine are preserved in song; tales of youthful romance, forbidden love and lamentations of war, famine and persecution. KASHTAN’s renowned a cappella vocals and rich polyphonic harmonies ensure Ukraine’s trove of musical poetry resonates for future generations.

KASHTAN’s proud performance history spans regional tours auspiced by the Country Arts Trust of South Australia and public events such as Carols by Candlelight and WOMADelaide. A 1990s tour of Ukraine included seven major concerts and on the banks of the mighty Dnipro in Kyiv, culminated in the honour of KASHTAN’s official membership to the National All Ukrainian Music Union.
