Lemko Band

Lemko Band is an Adelaide-based ensemble showcasing folk music from the Carpathian highlands of western Ukraine. Inspired by the deep connection Lemkos feel for their homeland, Lemko Band infuses modern audiences with the unique sound of an ancient Ruthenian people.

Local artist and director, Yuriy Onyskiv leads on vocals and traditional Ukrainian instruments such as the sopilka and cimbalom. Joined by a talented band that amplify the lively tempo, audiences can’t resist the urge to tap, clap and dance in their seats. From festive celebration to soulful melancholy, Lemko Band magically transports the house to Ukraine’s mountainous slopes.
